Start with the essentials
Your next step.
Start with the municipality where the land is located. Ask for the permit service and the document list suited to your project category.
- Confirm the commune and office responsible for the site.
- Describe use, area, storeys and available plans.
- Request current filing requirements and a submission receipt.

Answers to your questions.
Who handles the application?
Decree 2023-617, published by the ministry, sets the building permit framework. It provides for municipal processing involving the competent planning bodies. The national ministry address therefore does not replace finding the municipal office receiving your application.
What should you check before finalising plans?
Present land references, site access and proposed use. Ask which constraints, easements or planning requirements need checking at that location. An architect can help reflect those requirements in the design. An ANAT map provides context but does not determine whether your individual lot can be built on.
What should you ask when filing?
Clarify documents, signatures, formats, official charges, filing channel and tracking reference. Ask how an incomplete application or design change is handled and which document actually authorises the work. Do not apply a deadline quoted for another project without confirming your category and whether the file is complete.
