Answers to your questions.

Use the competent Conservation foncière

The DGID service sheet directs requests to the conservator with jurisdiction over the property. Confirm that jurisdiction before filing. The published document list is a copy of the land title and of the national identity card. Ask the office how a company or representative should apply and what reference to use if a title copy is unavailable.

State your purpose clearly: you need information for a particular proposed transaction. Keep the property location, title reference and applicant details together. Ask for the current fee, payment channel and collection instructions directly; keep the receipt and the reference assigned to the request.

Review the answer against the proposed sale

The DGID’s procedure for buying a privately owned titled property uses this document to establish the recorded owner, the property description and possible registered charges. Give the result and the seller’s supporting papers to your notary so the proposed sale can be checked against those records.

Ask for an explanation of every unfamiliar entry. The questions below are a discussion checklist, not a determination that a property is safe to buy.

  • Does the property described match the land being offered?
  • Does the seller’s identity or authority fit the proposed transaction?
  • Which entries need explanation, clearance or further documents?
  • When should information be refreshed before signing?

Follow the transaction through registration

For the privately owned titled-property acquisition covered by its sheet, the DGID describes a notarial process ending with registration of the buyer’s right. Ask the notary to explain the evidence you will receive after that step. A preliminary document review and the completed transfer are different points in the process.

Do not apply this route automatically to a lease, occupation permit or allocation paper. First identify the document actually held. If the land status, inheritance or authority to sell is unclear, ask for a written explanation of the applicable route and unresolved issues before agreeing to a payment schedule.

Your preparation checklist

  • Confirm the exact title and competent conservator.
  • Ask the office for current filing and payment instructions.
  • Keep the issued document with the request receipt.
  • Have the result compared with the proposed sale documents.
  • Ask what will evidence the completed registration.
