Start with the essentials

Your next step.

Start with the exact parcel and proposed project. The GUPC can direct a permit enquiry; the signing authority and application depend on the project. Confirm the documents and professionals required before commissioning construction.

  • Identify the parcel and project.
  • Confirm the permit office and documents.
  • Agree a written professional assignment.

Answers to your questions.

Does the GUPC issue every permit?

The ministry distinguishes ministerial and municipal permits, with review by the relevant bodies. Give the GUPC the commune, use, number of floors and project characteristics. Confirm the receiving office and signing authority for that specific application.

What should I check before commissioning plans?

Gather the land references and ask how buildability, access and planning rules should be checked. If the plan and physical site differ, clarify boundaries with a qualified surveyor. Acquiring the parcel and obtaining authorisation for the building remain separate matters to examine.

How should I choose the architect?

Use the Order of Architects to find a registered professional. Define the assignment: design, permit preparation, technical coordination and any site supervision. Request written deliverables, a schedule and fees; a construction quotation does not necessarily describe the architect’s assignment.

What should I receive after submitting?

Ask for a receipt or file reference, the tracking channel and the written decision expected. Confirm site conditions and completion-compliance steps. Filing an application or paying a charge should not be confused with receiving permission.
