Start with the essentials
Your next step.
Identify the parcel and seller first, then have a notarial practice examine the rights and proposed transfer.
- Get the parcel references and copies of the available records.
- Identify the competent ANDF office and a notarial practice.
- Clarify boundaries, access and written terms before paying.

Answers to your questions.
What should you request from the seller?
Keep one file with the location, commune, lot, available cadastral or NUP references, land documents and the seller’s or representative’s identity. Compare names and references across the papers. An advert, fence or receipt does not explain the rights being offered.
Who checks which part?
Ask ANDF which office and record match the land’s status. Its descriptive-record service is one route to discuss with the office. Select a practice in the Chamber of Notaries directory to examine the seller’s authority, rights, possible encumbrances and transfer formalities. A surveyor can assess boundaries within an agreed assignment.
What needs settling before a deposit?
Record the property, outstanding checks, charges, stages and conditions for returning any payment. If buying from abroad, have your situation, representative’s powers and acquisition conditions assessed before signing an authority or transferring money. Each project needs its own document review.
